5 of the Best Indoor Dates!

By: Rachel

Social distancing is likely to become the new normal (for the foreseeable anyway), we are going to have to adapt our lives accordingly, dating lives included. I’ve seen a few articles questioning whether people should be going on dates at a time like this and “Yes, we should”. The world may be on pause but that doesn’t mean your happiness should be. Feeling connected and feeling love is an important part of who we are, as is being resilient. Don’t let a pandemic and a little thing like not being able to leave your house stand in your way. Here are my 5 top isolation dates.

Video Call

Simple and failsafe this is as good as it gets. Having a video call is a great way to get to know someone, in fact, in some ways it could be even better than a traditional first date. For a start it’s just you and that person face to face chatting with no distractions of menus, waiting staff and chit chat of surrounding people. It gives you an opportunity to really listen and focus on what that person is saying and helps you to get to know them on a deeper level. If you are someone who struggles to keep conversation going, maybe have a few pointers to hand, some ice breakers or conversation topics to discuss.

Cooking Together

Completing a task together can help build bonds and strengthen relationships. So why not plan a meal and cook it together following a recipe at the same time over video. A starter, main and dessert may be for the more advanced, but rustling up a risotto or even baking a cake together can be more simple fun. Offer advice and tips, and encourage each other along the way. Then sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labour together, wine optional!

Games Night

Quiz nights are a fun way to get the cranium juices flowing, so get up some questions of trivia or a subject of your choice (the internet is awash with them right now) and get your thinking cap on. Board games aren’t just resigned for those that are in the house with you, if you have the same ones in your respective homes you can play along together, “Scrabble anyone?”

Movie Night

A movie night watching along together can be an evening well spent, especially without having to deal with the queues for snacks or paying an extortionate price for popcorn. Take it in turns to choose your favourite movies or select something that you both haven’t seen and which you can enjoy for the first time together. It’s worth noting that a lot of the streaming services are allowing pay per view on new releases so you could be watching a box office hit from the comfort of your sofa… add that popcorn to your online order!

A Night of Music

We all love music and with good reason, listening to music can lift our moods, create happiness, reduce stress and transport us back in time. So why not create a playlist of your favourite tracks and play to one another. If the songs have meaning to you and have a story behind them, start off by telling it before pressing play. And if the mood takes you dance like nobody is watching!

If you are struggling to find the one, have exhausted all online dating platforms or are just fed up of doing the groundwork yourself, get in touch with our matchmakers today.
