So many couples leave seeking help until it’s almost too late. Frequently many don’t want to admit to each other that they don’t have the answers.
We believe that we should be able to resolve our issues ourselves.
This is all well and good if you can. But what happens if you don’t have the tools to do so? Attempting to solve your problems from the wrong place can often make matters worse.
On Friday this week there was an article in the Daily Telegraph headed “Michelle is right, we all need a regular marriage MOT”
The article referred to Michelle Obama’s autobiography “Becoming” where she has shared many revelations including that she and Barack have been to couples counselling for their marriage.
If they realised they didn’t have all the answers and got help then so can you.
So many couples struggle on not knowing what to do and believing that either “No one can help” or that “because they are failing then their relationship is over and there is no point in keeping going”.
I have written in the past on how sensible it is to give your marriage a regular MOT. I have couples who have chosen do this with me. They tell me it gives them the chance to spend two hours solely focussed on themselves and their relationship.
Admit you need help
To admit to yourselves that you need help is the start. Then take action. You could well be surprised by what you learn. For those of you in crisis then it is imperative you take action now. Don’t leave it until it’s too late. Learn the tools to give you both a great future. Time and again couples say to me they wish they’d known them before. They could have saved themselves months, or in some cases many years, of pain. Don’t let that be you.
